Business English Our Business English course develops all the core language and communicative skills necessary to succeed at management level in an English-speaking workplace. Students may elect to sit the internationally-regarded TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) at the Academy's TOEIC test centre.

Placement:
Students enrolling for General English sit our placement test on arrival, and are then placed in the appropriate class according to their assessed language level.

Certification:
Queens Academy Certificate in General English

Queens Academy of English offers six levels of General English which, in common with all our courses, are designed to be communicative and functional.

Our levels are classified as follows:

General English 1 (Beginner)
General English 2 (Elementary)
General English 3 (Pre-Intermediate)

Academic English

Students must satisfy entry requirements or study in the General English class if they are not yet ready for Academic English.
Class Size: 8-14, 15 Max
Start Date: Starts every Monday,
Length of Course: Open.
Placement: Students enrolling for Academic English sit our placement test on arrival, and are then placed in the appropriate class according to their assessed language level.
Certification: Queens Academy Certificate in Academic English
(You must meet all course and attendance requirements. Additionally, you will need to attain an Academic IELTS Score of 6.0.)
Detail
The Academic English course is offered at 3 levels and is designed on a modular framework based on the principles of communicative competence. It is taught by task-based methodology.
Our levels are classified as follows:

  • IELTS 4.0 or equivalent
  • IELTS 4.5 or equivalent
  • IELTS 5.5 or equivalent

The course teaches students the core skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in international English. IELTS exam strategies and preparatory tests and exercises are conducted in a simulated exam environment and each student is formally tested every 6 weeks and receives a written report assessing their current level and performance.
Material is presented cyclically so that items are revisited at ever increasing layers of depth and complexity as the course progresses. Each student's awareness of the importance of text structures in a variety of the most commonly encountered academic genres (in both spoken and written modes) is emphasised. Additionally, students learn study skills that is important to their success at university and tertiary institutes.

Business English

Course Name: Business English (TOEIC Exam Preparation)
Options: 25Hrs/wk full-time / 15 Hrs/wk part-time

Students must satisfy entry requirements or study in the General English class if they are not yet ready for Business English.
Class Size: 8-14, 15 Max
Start Date: Starts every Monday
Length of Course: Open.
Levels: Beginner, intermediate and advanced
Placement: Students enrolling for Business English sit our placement test on arrival, and are then placed in the appropriate class according to their assessed language level.
Certification: Queens Academy Certificate in Business English
(You must meet all course and attendance requirements. Additionally, you will have to attain a British English Certificate (BEC) 2, C grade for Reading, Writing and Listening and a 1 grade for Speaking.)

Queens Academy of English offers two levels of Business English which, in common with all our courses, are designed on a modular framework based on principles of communicative competence and taught by task-based methodology.
Students enrolling for either of these modules must demonstrate pre-requisite language skills on our placement test before we can accept their enrolment in these courses. A level roughly equivalent to an IELTS score of 4.5 (good pre-Intermediate level) will allow entry to Business English 1, while the upper module requires around 5.5 (good Intermediate level) for entry to Business English 2.
